{"id":448,"date":"2020-01-10T20:31:47","date_gmt":"2020-01-10T20:31:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/brevities.harddfan.net\/blog\/?p=448"},"modified":"2025-02-04T20:59:31","modified_gmt":"2025-02-04T20:59:31","slug":"2030-education-technology-to-the-future","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/brevities.harddfan.net\/blog\/edtech\/2030-education-technology-to-the-future\/","title":{"rendered":"2030: Education Technology: to the future?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>David Longman<br><em>January 2020<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\"><em>&#8220;The future is already here \u2014 it&#8217;s just not very evenly distributed.\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikiquote.org\/wiki\/William_Gibson\">Attributed to William Gibson<\/a>)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n<p>The turn of a decade is a convenient calendar moment in which to consider what is to come, to look ahead to consider how educational technology (edtech) might develop during the coming decade.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are some possible questions for discussion:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>How will edtech develop during the coming 10-15 years?&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>How will the provision and &#8216;delivery&#8217; of education change (if at all)?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Perhaps, most importantly, how can we influence the direction of edtech as the future unfolds?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group is-nowrap is-layout-flex wp-container-core-group-is-layout-ad2f72ca wp-block-group-is-layout-flex\">\n<p>Three recent and interesting papers about possible futures of edtech are listed below illustrating three different futures &#8211; each is possible, some are already emerging. (These articles are what Neil Selwyn and his colleagues describe as &#8220;<em>social science fiction<\/em>&#8220;.)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Two of the three articles (1 &amp; 3) are open access and article 2 has been contributed by the authors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To lighten the reading load a bit synopses of the articles have been provided. These are are reasonably accurate summaries of the main content while offering a lighter\/quicker read (feedback welcome).
